19th December 2024 was the day. Having prepped the parking Lot for easier set-up, we had a challenge ahead of us. The goal was to make it look like you walked into a grandmas’ and grandpas’ event. Impax really cared enough to receive the best Service, and trusted that Parklane Africa would give just that.
The event had so many décor elements that we tried to implement as meticulously as possible. These included:
We started by weaving fairy lights along the ceiling, then draping black sheer beneath it so that it feels like a galaxy brought closer to the people. We then ran Eddison bulbs around the perimeter of the space. At the entrance, we hang curtain lights to fall warm and had pecan lights on the pillars of the room. The space was lit warm to bring warmth psychologically into the space given that the event took place in the night till late. We also draped ceiling to floor lighting to guide people from the entrance to the photo garland.
The Table set-up was a white table cloth with Interchangeable gold and black runners and seats draped white with interchangeable black and gold tie backs. For the center-pieces we took the concept of African aged homesteads and placed a calabash on a mat lay in a winnower (uteo). Inside the calabash, we balance a wax LED candle to light up the table and as a time machine to back when homes were candle lit.
At the front, and on a few pillars we hand Ankara fabric still in theme with a red color and petal patters in black and white with winnowers and calabashes hanging to its left and right.
In between the table set-up were warmers that added to both the light and warmth of the space. Themed in both black and warm tones, the warmed blended right into the space and burned all through the night. We had to cover the sides with heavy black fabric to prevent the wind from pushing the cold air into the lot which had already turned into an event space.
The balloon garland was beautiful with different size company colors red, white, black and gold. It was shaped around the company banner in an inverted L shape, with one side having walking sticks, Vikapu of different sizes, calabashes and winnowers (uteos). On the entrance proles, we tied dried leaves, brooms and flywhisks to top the look. Yes, we did go all out with the theme.
Everything within the space was pre-thought, discussed and allowed to come together to create a magical time-machine that blended well with the clients who came in dressed as grandmas and grandpas; happy to have props by the photo stand to complete their looks.
That is the kind of satisfaction we like to see in our clients at Parklane Africa. Visit our social media platforms to interact more visually with the event aesthetics @parklaneafrica, then reach out, when you care enough to receive the best service.
